Had a couple of days away from the scooby loom, been sorting bolts and clutches etc. Anyway decided to see how much clearance I would have under a standard scooby sump I reckon that I'll have about 41/2 inches empty, so do you reckon this is ok or have I got to cut and shut the sump or pay a lot for a cast jobby.

have a chat with jamesc76, he has a lowwww sump on his too, he's built a guard round it though.

and all those peeps who slagged of my diesel engine for being low ans said they would stick to the subaru lump!

Mine's no lower than the gearbox..... pays yer money, gets yer clearance.

So Mr Hell what sump have you used?

This photo also shows the engine mounting cradle and exhaust.... I don't think I had the engine mounting bar bolted up at this point, so everything might look a bit low..... you get the idea though

did you fabricate the exhaust, as it is very tight to the engine.
Did you order direct from the states or a supplier in UK?

Just realised you kept that quite Mr Hell not only have you mated the box and engine but sneaked them into the van (syncro?) as well

The exhaust and all bits bar the bellhousing (RJES) are from SmallCar.

The exhaust needs a little 'clearancing' around the bellhousing, but should be just fine.

I imported it all directly..... and paid the frigging duty, too

Will the "clearancing" involve a heavy metal object
Don't like the sound of duty having to be paid think we contribute enough to exchequer but don't suppose they gave you the option

Are you mounting the ECU inside the body of the van, I read somewhere they dont like any damp at all. I am going to try mounting mine inside the cab of the crewcab under the rear seat if I can "stretch" the loom far enough. Will you remove the loom after its all running and tape it up or do it in the van. Been playing with my loom most of today near enough ready for the crewy, then find out what I should have not cut out

you can always seal it in a tupperware type box if it wont stretch far enough.mines been like that nearly 3yrs

Doka-wise SyncroPete has put his ECU on the shelf above and in front of the engine, which is where his Digifant ECU was located before.

My ECU and ignitor are going under the seat in the back of the van and I'm going to locate a second engine-bay black box there too, which will contain the relays and diode, as well as providing a second B+ terminal for the fuel pump and ingnition relay power. The loom all seems to reach just fine and last night I put the wires in the engine bay in their trunking, so now I'm just working inside the van.

While the tupperware box idea is fine for on road use I'd rather have the ECU stored away from the mud and the filth that I'm likely to insult mine with .

What did you do with your oil pickup pipe? Did you also get a smallcar one?
