I've had my 2l ac T3 for a few months now, the engine has done about 100k and sounds / drives nice. It's always had a slight oil leak but having owned a few older cars in the past, nothing that I got to worried about.

Last time I used it (a couple of weeks ago), when I got home I noticed that quite a large amount of oil had leaked onto my drive and the dipstick also confirmed it had lost more than the usual amount.

I cleaned the underneath out with a pressure washer, waited for it to dry and started the engine up to find out where it was coming from but the expected flow of oil never materialised... After turning the engine off I placed a sheet of cardboard under the engine so I could monitor how much oil was dropping but it's been there a week now and there's just a small drop.

All that oil came from somewhere and I don't believe for one second that it's magically fixed, but all seems back to normal now. I'm going to Normandy in it in a couple of weeks and don't want it dying on me before I even get to Dover!

Any ideas???

I suspect you're only getting this after a hot run where the oil thins slightly. You did the right thing cleaning it all down but you need a good run (8 miles should be enough) then park on the cardboard to see whats going on. Could be a pushrod tube seal or a rocker gasket I suppose, both of which are easy on the 2ltr.
