temp sender

Hello all,can anyone please tell me exactly where the temp sender is on a 19dg,guage starts to rise after a couple of miles then drops away and doesnt move again.thanks,mitch.

On the plastic thermostat housing towards the nearside front of the engine.

Earthing the wire should make the gauge go full over.

Take care of that plastic housing for the stat, they are like hens teeth to get.

Has it been bled of air as your symptoms indicate that could be an issue.

Marked as 'HERE' with an arrow, bottom left of photo... red and yellow wire to it, spade connector on end.

Good point StuM, I was "assuming" his was the later version (post 85) with the plastic stat housing at the front :oops:

I wonder which it is - no doubt mitchy will post back and say :)

Found temp sender next to plastc stat housing as its a 1990 which i should of said at the top of the post,didnt know they differed with age.anyway been and had a look tugged and wiggled connections while van idling and guage went up and stopped up so maybe problem has been dodgey wiring,will have to wait and see.thankyou for your help stum and ghost

I have a similar problem. Mine works during the spring and summer at normal temperatures. Then when it gets very hot or cold it stops working. Temperamental or what ?
