It's three-way. I didn't try the gas. Battery and mains were both working before. Cheers.
what thermostat is it?I also tested the propex heating and it seems rather dead. Should there be any kind of sound while it's trying to ignite, even if it doesn't - none of the lights change on the unit - I was expecting to see, or hear, something happen. I tried several times as I read it may take a while if it hasn't been used. Dunno if this is a fuse issue as well.

Propex likes a fully charged battery and good gas supply.
To me your description suggests a power issue.
