It's three-way. I didn't try the gas. Battery and mains were both working before. Cheers.

I also tested the propex heating and it seems rather dead. Should there be any kind of sound while it's trying to ignite, even if it doesn't - none of the lights change on the unit - I was expecting to see, or hear, something happen. I tried several times as I read it may take a while if it hasn't been used. Dunno if this is a fuse issue as well.
what thermostat is it?

like this? (black box)

Propex likes a fully charged battery and good gas supply.
To me your description suggests a power issue.

what fuse panel do you have
like this?

OKay, fridge was sorted (thanks for advice on the upside down trick) and I got a fuse for the propex heating. The light on the control unit now comes on but neither the fan or the heating works.

So, does anyone know of a propex engineer in north or east London. One who came to me would be ace!!

Cheers guys.
