Hot Cold Heater cable adjustment

My hot/cold heater cable is not connected to the lever on the dash. The cable looks twisted so i think i will need to replace it. Has anyone done this before? I followed the cable to the valve above the spare wheel. It looks a little tricky to access the value, remove the old cable, fit an new one and then re-adjust it. Any suggestions welcome.

-the reason for doing this is that my feet are getting constantly blasted by very hot air which i cant stop. I am hoping that the hot/cold level once fixed will solve the problem. I have burnt out my heater blower (there was smoke) trying to keep my feet cool (also need to replace that too). I have just taken the facias off the dash where the vents to the floor ducts are so the hot air is not now blowing directly onto my feet which is a little better.

Only had my van 3 weeks so bit of a novice - although managed to fit a new speedo cable already!!!

Thanks

the heater cable is not hard to replace but can be difficult to source however it is the same cable used by the mk1 golf i would suggest you replace the valve/cable and the clip that holds the cable to the heater valve all adjustment is done at the heater control end 'but be gentle when connecting to slider as if you over bend the cable you will be looking for another replacement cable

Mine just needed a bit of TLC at the lever end like straightening the inner and bnding the clamp back into shape etc. I found the hot to cold range very difficult to get centred so as to get all on or completely off. If you overdo the cool end you may not get enough heat for the winter. Good Luck

have some cables/valves here in gloucester

you can get under the van , drop the spare wheel and manually switch the valve to cold .
will help your feet until the winter!
