missing seatbelt mounts

I'm a little confused - I've taken out quite a bit of interior to fit lapbelts, only to find I seem to have two mounting points mising!

I have the two twin-point central points in the engine bulkhead, there are also the upper points (inside air intakes for 3-point belts) BUT the outer points on the engine bulkhead just aren't there!!! (The two I'd expet to find at the outer edges of the engine bulkhead)

So I can only fit a single lapbelt in the centre, but no lap belt at the sides. Anyone got any ideas? (Have consulted JK diagrams, haynes manual, used eyes and torches and everything but they just ain't there - unless outer setbelt points are somewhere else on some models???)

It's a 1982 bus conversion...

Have you tried behind the carpet on the van side (to the left of your red circle), i think that there in the strengthing rib about 8 inch up from the floor.

Thanks for the info - will have to let JK know their diagram is a little err.... wrong/inaccurate.

Sadly getting at side panels is a HUGE job requiring taking whole interior out so will stick with middle lap belt only and fit a 3-pointe in due course when it's time to re-trim and take the interior out in full.

hanks loads for info - as always the forums are THE place :-)

if you find exact point on another van you could use a hole saw and take a section out of the side panel trim.

Good idea

Will have to find exactly where - can anyone help with a position? Only other vans I know have either welded points (ie copnverted from a panel van not bus) or no rear seatbelts - any help most appreciated!

Cheers

Hi Steve,
not sure if this helps, but we have had seatbelt mounts welded into position based on the mounting points shown in the Haynes book. Haven't got it here, but can scan the diagram and post it tonight?

Got two lap belts for the camper in the rear.

Let me know

Emma

Will wait a while

Hi Emma,

No worries - will wait to get measurements/location of actual threaded location on side of van, unimpressed by misleading JK diagram (and not the only one!)

Still - means I can fit a 3-point in due course which is good...
