Any one got any idea what's going on here....

After a 50 mile run today, just as I was about to pull onto the drive the radiator fan started making a right noise – like it's cathing on something. So, obviously it's catching on something! Anyone had this problem – I need to use the van agian tomorrow and I'm far too tired to be taking the radiator fan out tonight??

Are you sure it catching and not the bearings that have dried out in the fan motor ?
Its easy to check , just drop the spare wheel and have a look up in there , 10 minutes and you will know :ok

Strange – checked it out, fan turned fine. Ran round the block and got it all up to temp, then left it running for a good 10 minutes and the fan didn't cut in, just about to give up thiniking the fan was done for when it finally kicked in and sounded fine, then kepts cutting in and out regularly. So, guess I'll see how it goes. :?:

I don't know if it's related but it is running hot – ever since the thermastat was replaced the temp needle settles just below half way between the red light and the overheat mark, if I put the heater on about half way the needle heads down to just touching the right of the red light.

fan sound like its running ok but i would re-bleed your water works sounds like a bit of air poss in heater matrix make sure levers are on hot when you bleed and all should be good.

Cheers Doug, I was ignoring that whole draining water system thing in the hope it would all just sort itself out but it looks like I I can't ignore it any more, something to do with van on an angle and someone to help... I'll consult the Wiki....
