How interchangeable are 2L Aircooled engines?

Need a lump to replace the one that spilt its guts on the M3 on the way to Glasto
It was a CJ - do I need to find a direct replacement or are all 2L Aircooled fairly interchangeable?

The CJ was a different engine to the CU but some of the bits fit both...
Which one had you got fitted, sure it was the CJ ?
I think the oil filler and dipstick were in the wrong places for the brick to make life easy

Definitely a CJ - I'm hopefully buying an engine tomorrow - I imagine it's a CU if it's out of an X reg - any idea what bits I should ensure are with it to make it fit where the CJ came out?
