Kamper Conversion Confusion

I have a 1983 Kamper conversion, and I know it's a Kamper because it says so on the side of the van in great big brown stickers.

But after reading the Kamper conversion manual in the other section, it seems I should have a back single seat behind the front passenger seat which I don't have, a table, which I don't have and my front seats shouldn't swivel, which they do.

I realise the swival seats could be later adaptions, which is why the buddy seat would have been removed, but I can't find and fixings where it should have gone.

Also I think I've got panels missing for the roof bed as currently it's not full length. Has any one got photos of their bed made up?

It also mentions in the manual a cab bed as an optional extra, has anyone got one so I can see what it looks like and how it fixes?

In fact does any one have a 1983 version of the Kamper manual?

:)

Some of the hammock's bars slot into 'cups' on the window ledge of the cab doors.

him matey mines an 84 kamper and if you pull back carpet on floor directly behind passenger seat you should have 4 jholes in the floor where buddy seat would have been
also the extra bits to make up the bed are above front cab they sort of slide out the slot just above the black handle that you pull to release the roof bit of a bugger to get if the little chain has snapped i had to grip mine with adjustable grips and tied a piece of rope to them to pull it out then before i put it back i tied some washing line wire round it and left a bit dangling down so to make it easier to get out in future
now a question for you in your cupbord below the cooker in there is there a wire with what looks like a ciggarette lighter socket on it and another wire which plugs into it? any idea what its for?? had my van a year now and still not sussed it out

We've got a Karisma and I think the lighter socket thing is for the 2 way fridge but we've never worked out how to get it working. We just use the gas.

Or we could be entirely wrong.

You may be wrong - the fridge is pretty 'Amp' greedy so a lighter socket would not be able to supply the current required. It's probably just, as you imagine, a lighter socket for the rather poor design lighter plug in adaptors you can get.

If you really want 12volt outlets in the back, I suggest the small 12v blade plugs and outlets that will give 10Amps - I have two in mine for the telly, etc.

Leigh.....

(Yes - I did say telly!)

We've got the original handbook from Autohomes which has a wiring diagram showing the socket. I'll scan it in tonight and then post it so you can work out what it is.

Then you can tell me as I'm not very bright.

Hacksawbob,

This manual seems to be for a more upto date version as ours only has a 2 way fridge and a few other minor differences. I'll scan it in and email it to you so that you could maybe add it (or the different bits) to the Wiki for older Autohomes conversions.

I'm not very good at this computer gubbins but I'll have a good go at it.
