1973 Westy... Engine 1600?

Hello,

I really need to find a secondhand/reconditioned engine for my bay window. I've taken it to a garage who have removed the (knackered) old one, but have about as much idea as me about how to replace it. Any ideas on the best way to track one down and how much I should be looking to pay for it?

Thanks in advance for your advice : )

We're not really into bays round here. 1973 falls a little outside of the 80-90 remit...

Yeah I expect someone will have an idea - but there are probably better places to ask.

That takes me back to when I took the to be missus around Scotland in her mothers new bay in 1973. - my introduction to VW vans. It never missed a beat for several thousand miles up hills etc.
