Why would the alternator have anything to do with the oil pressure?

Two fat wires go to 8mm stud and the thin one goes to the small one, if your's had the 3 pin plug thing then just cut it off and put loop connectors on.

Hi,I know it does'nt affect oil pressure, but I read on the net that the alternator needs to be wired up as it affects the oil warning light.I have wired up as you say, and the charging light goes out on the dash when the engine stars but i have one wire spare on the small double plug which i'm not sure where it connects.

Thanks Les

Oh yes you do! At least if you have a diesel you do. The green wire from the W terminal also does the "Buzzer of Doom" oil pressure warning system, as well as the rev counter if you have one. The BoD has a little electronic gizmo that only operates it above a certain revs, hence the connection to the alternator.

but if its spare and he doesnt know where it goes then he mustnt have a buzzer of doom or a rev counter !
