Hi,

Anyone know the colour code for a 1989 Autohomes Kamper?

My silver sticker is missing from under the front seat - it is sort of an off white (see garage pics for the model)....

Many thanks,

James

Thanks Rob - already seen that - although that would possibly narrow it down to a couple of whites...... assuming I read it right.

your local auto paint place should be able to do you a good match

He is doing, but the van has had a number of panels resprayed in in a whiter shade previously - just wanted to use the actual colour for the work he is doing - close up it's a bit of a patchwork job all round!

Going to get a complete respray eventually and would like to restore to the original colour.

Apologies - I'm a bit of an anorak (when I get the time or the cash).....

Thanks for you help, much appreciated. Always found the answer to my questions on 80-90!

Hi there I have an autohomes Kameo 1985 just back from resto.

The paint code for this van is L90D pastel white. I am not sure if they changed the paint later on. You could maybe try calling a VW garage and giving them your chasis number they might be able to trace it.

Thanks everyone for the replies. As always the answer can be found on this forum.

Had to colour match the previous resprays which were a shade lighter (obvious now the panels under the original untouched doors have been done). Hospital job should last another winter before hopefully respraying the whole back to the original (funds and family permitting!).

Original decals not available (http://www.charlesandson.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) so looking to either match the decals or possibly even even paint in the stripes/Kamper logo (anyone know a decent signwriter near Leeds......)...

Thanks,

James

Oh and this company bought autohomes stock, and still has a lot of the same staff. They still sell the stripes for my komet, so chances are they might have the kamper stripes too

Thanks lloydy - I will try them as well (should have thought of then as they do the replacement roof - doh!)

Again, cheers to you all!

Now, who has a right hand knob for my Electrolux RM212.................

Hi, just looking and saw your post. I needed to match the paint on my van to do some touch-up work, so I had a look under the sound proofing in the engine lid. After a quick wipe with some thinners, I found lovely unfaded paint. I took the lid with me to our local Autopaint supplier and he gave me a perfect colour match . I did wonder if I had the original lid but it all matched close enough to the rest of the van so I was happy to go with it. Its faded in really well so I'm happy with the match.

Thanks Hightopfrog - my problem was that the van had obviously been resprayed previously a slightly lighter colour in various places so it was a choice of either matching into the new or old shades.

Also - Lloydy thanks for your advice regarding the stripes - tried Autovan but no luck - guess its a visit to a local decal shop.

Love this place!

Hi bideford, gotya. The guy I went to for the paint seemed able to work out the colour from his vast selection of colour cards; but while I was waiting for the paint to mix, he was chating to a guy who I took to be a vehicle repairer of some kind. They were going on about a bit of kit that could work out the exact colour pigment of a paint and then mix up a colour from that. I took it to be something that would be used in spray booths for exact matching of paint for resprays after repair work. I have no further info, but maybe one of our fellow T25'ers will know more.

Best of luck with it anyway.

Cheers.

You`re right. They SHOULD be able to do this, but they can make mistakes
