Recaros in your T3 for peanuts...anyone want a how-to guide?

I've just converted a Recaro seat to fit on the original VW seat base.

With some careful cutting and removal of the base metalwork (non structural BTW) and a couple of welds the seats fit in a treat and look great with the bases showing no mechanisms or bare edges of note. The base almost sits like it was made for these seats with a pronounced dent in the VW base matching one on the Recaro. :D

I used Astra GTE Mk2 Recaros (free, from a friend) but I am sure others could be fitted using the same method.

Recaro want £125 for each set of runners plus £30 postage, that makes it over £300 for a pair

I took pictures as I did it. Would anyone be interested in a How-to for the Wiki?

Think it depends on your idea of 'easy' but the lack of need for extra metal, bending, fabrication is the clincher for me.

I had a set of bolt on runners all designed but thought I would have a go at this before going through the hassle of prototyping a set.

Basically if you can operate a grinder with a cutting disc, a spot welder and an allen key you are capable. I just need to compare a few Recaro bases to see if they will all work.
