The Fridge on my 1987 Joker doesn't get very cold. It starts and runs ok and I can see the blue flame ok but doesn't seem to be getting cold enough. Any ideas? Does it just need servicing? Whats involved in servicing these fridges?

How long did you leave it running for? It takes a while for the process to get going so 15 minutes won't do bugger all. Leave it running for a couple of hours with the van level then carefully feel the metal plate in the freezer compartment.

I've got the same fridge as you and I had the same problem. Fridges are meant to work constantly. Even in the instruction booklet it recommends removing it and turning it upside down. That's what I did and hey presto it worked again! The other essential tip is to run the fridge a couple of times during the winter months to keep things ticking over. Good luck.

A couple of frozen freezer blocks left in the fridge helps to push the temperature down before using it Jack

Check flue and its vent for obstructions i.e. mouse nests, leaves, spider webs, dead things etc., when its running well you can usually feel the outside vent is warm.

Ever heard of the Wiki? It's at the top of the page.....Its always worth a search......

If the problem is when it's on gas I would say it's a partially blocked gas jet.
