Has anyone ever attempted or done a valve seat replacement? I have a CU with a dropped valve and wondered about the possibility of replacing the seat (suppliers, seat types and VW specific tips for seat replacements etc)..

yea yea I know - go and buy a new head but for a few quid (if they are that) I would like to attempt a seat replacement 1st if its doable!

Yes, can be done, but needs to be done right... VW cocked up and didnt get the "interferance" fit right, so when the get a litle too hot the seat dropsout.. Very common.. or was...

As long as the seat area isnt too mullered it can be sorted.. cant suggest anyone just at the mo.... I'll have to have a think....

If it's dropped the valve, the seat might be ok... but if it's got mullered it'll need an oversize seat fitting by a competent engine refurb outfit or machine shop. Like me
Seriously, take it to an engine shop or get another head, whichever is cheaper.
