Temp in air blowers?

Is it normal to get hot air out of the vents when the slider is all the way to the left(blue circle) mine still puts out varying degrees of heat even in the cold position. I'm scared to mess with it in case it gets stuck cold or doesn't let no heat in, I guess I can live with it but it would be nice to just let the air in when I want too.
Cheers

I believe theres a valve under the front end that doesn't close properly Steve. Few threads have come up on this subject I think. Not a job I've ever done but giving you a pointer.

Either the valve above the spare wheel or the heater control cable is kinked and isn't properly retracting, this is quite common and is normally caused by the cables being forced out of the way when a radio is fitted.
If you pop your ashtray out and look down at the back of the controls you can see the cables, move the heater knob and see what happens, if it's kinked it will bend out of the way instead of returning into the outer part. Often you can ease it back with the help of some long nose pliers (you may need 3 hands for this) you should be able to do it without removing the radio. I went nearly 18months like that, heater off all summer then gradually turned it up as the weather got cold
