Anyone ever found anything that works well. I bought some mesh stuff with velcro attachment cheap off ebay last year but its rubbish and doesn't attach well at all. We're thinking of going up to Scotland this year and I've heard bad things about the midges.

The originals turn up on eBay (uk and de). They are not cheap but I guess that's why the cheap ones are crap

Just make sure that you take avon skin so soft with you the spray one it will help against the midge if not plenty of drink and you will soon forget about them

All westfalias have the male part of the poppers fitted to the vans as standard ready to take the mozzy nets. Just thought i would mention that

As the other poster said Avon Skin So Soft is what you need - the midgies hate it.

You can pick it up in any camping shop and every wee shop or garage in the highlands sell it

Make sure you get midge proof screening - the little blighters get straight through normal flyscreen mesh.

Mine had a makeshift one when i bought the van that works fine. There are some little eyelets screwed into the van across the sliding door with some cutain wire attatched. Mozzie screen threaded through, does the job just fine (and loads of people comment on it). Cant imagine it was expensive. Might even add a photo or two later.

Mozzie screen is no good as I said - the holes are too big - they allow the midges through.

No comment, no thanks, no nothing.

I bought two fro GOWESTY in the States. They are havy duty & the sliding door one has a centre zip. But I seem to remember they cost me about $130 or more. The one for the back fits great "velcroed" and I leave the back door up all night in the warm weather.

They supply with popper stude, but as my van was carpet lined I attached 1" strip of velcro all around the nets & they are great No mozzies.

I spent a lot of pocket money on thin rubbish netting which is alright for small windows, but for doors, ya need something a bit more rugged.
