i looked in the box, was about to fit new front brake pads and found out that i had been given the wrong ones, (rectangular ones).

preferred brand to use? approx. cost they should be?

arg.

i don't have a punch for taking the pins out, can you recommend a good one or something else?

any tips when fitting them. do you smear grease on the back of the pads and the corner edges?

cheers.

Knocked my pins through with an old drill bit and a hammer.

knock the point of a 100mm nail must be galvanised as they are harder than standard steel nails theres gotta be a builder/chippy working close by with some.

got some nice shiny new square pads today and some fancy grease that's supposedly temperature resistant/waterproof .. anti squeal compound, will back the pads and edges with this.

right on.
