Coolant compatibility?

Could use a bit of advice here! I’ve recently bought a 1989 T25 with the 2.1 DJ engine. I was wanting to add some coolant to it and used the forum to research what was the best type to use. I find out that the green antifreeze currently in my campers engine is no longer available and the new Blue/Pink/Red stuff is incompatible with the green. So I ask my local VW specialist for a price to change the coolant and he tells with that if the coolant isn’t leaking then don’t change it cos it will certainly leak afterwards!! Is this correct??

i'm not sure what the mechanic meant, G12 VW spec anti-freeze/coolant is the stuff to use. according to the vw dealer i got mine from.
i also don't see any reason not to mix them when replacing? i am open to correction.
there is a wiki article on here that details the steps to bleeding should you decide to drain and replace the coolant.
i'd just top up with g12 vw coolant as needed and leave it at that.

That old Coolant chestnut again....
Personally, if the coolant looks clean and is strong enough for -25, then dont change it....
If it looks grotty and isnt up to strength, the DO change it..
I never use the "VW recomended G12" as its costly and you would be well peeved to find it all over the floor one day.. and it WONT fix an already rusty system....
A good quality branded make is fine, use a "concentrate and dilute with de min water if you live in a hard water area (whats your kettle like???)
I have done over 200k miles in my T25's in the last 11 years and never had a problem from the coolant I have used..
