Have spent the last couple of weeks installing my AAZ. I bought this engine last September genuine 70k and heard it running no probs. Fitted in smoothly with a few questions kindly answered on this forum. Started up fine, this is too good to be true I thought! Then the oil pressure buzzer came on and the warning light flashed...turn it off, what have I done wrong? Check oil level, filter etc, change pressure switch ...still on. Remove sump check pump, pick up etc. Refit sump change oil & filter... must be o.k...No. Remove sump again, check big ends, fine, buy new oil pump refit everything, new oil & filter again, buzzer still on! After a lot of shouting and throwing things about I decide to go about it the way I was trained all those years ago, bring home the oil pressure guage and guess what..oil pressure is fine a bit of head scratching and then it jumps out at me there is another pressure switch on the back of the cyl head that controls the buzzer, swop with the old JX, perfect. Now the moral of this sad story is not to jump to conclusions, I imagined the worst and it has cost me dear in beer coupons, and my blood pressure has hit the roof!

Ya shoulda said something earlier - you might have saved yourself a bunch of time mentioning the buzzer etc as oil pressure switches would have always been the first port of call.

Glad it's working OK now.

What are your driving impressions of it then?

First impressions are really good, pulls well. Seems to be a bit noisey at the air intake though? Have re-used the JX air filter behind the n/s/r lamp but you can't reconnect the long pipe which goes up inside the body. Tried to fit the Golf airbox but not enough room. Still these are minor problems compared with the buzzer saga!

I saw a corking red AAZ Syncro recently that had an intercooler, with the intake tube crossing the engine bay from where the filter housing was relocated to the o/s/r area of the engine bay.

You should speak to Russel from Syncronutz about it - it was a bit trick.
