can anyone tell me if there is a way to get some more power out of a golf 1.9 NA diesel which is in my syncro 16" doka?
it originally had a 112 hp petrol engine and is geared for that, so suffers a little with lack of grunt.
i had to pull an LDV van off the beach at a gig the other night and it took a bit of clutch slipping even in my G gear. not good.

when i have a little more time and money, i am going to swap it for a decent 1z or somehing whith more poke but till then...
please help.

i spoke to a chap last night who seemed to think that you could change something on the pump and get 10HP more from it which would help if it is true and wont screw up an otherwise excellent engine.

thanking you all in anticipation...

First off read all you can here :http://www.vwdiesel.net/forum/
If you can afford it, a diesel will benefit from a larger exhaust. Unlike a gas engine, diesels don't need back pressure to produce power, so it would help to get a bigger exhaust manifold and go up to 2.5" pipe and muffler all the way.
