How about this for an idea (from my intelligent son). ASDA are selling pay as ya go mobile phones for £20. Now if you wired this to keep it charged hidden somewhere in your van, if your van got nicked the phone could be tracked. Cheap tracker, what do you think ?

Tracked by whom?

Trackers get cheaper all the time - take a look at ebay. Many of them are quite sophisticated too.

Well, looking on ebay I am suprised. They really have come down in price...............who knows I just might get a suprise on Fathers Day ! I just feel so gutted for the poor sods who have their vans stolen.

Exactly. Not worth bothering with DIY phone tracking at the prices trackers are now. They can be hidden fairly easily and even if thief disconnects battery, tracker should work for several days on its own power- easily enough to find the vehicle within a few metres. Some have inbuilt microphones and even the facility to switch fuel off remotely.

Never mind trackers, alarm triggered lockdown and sarin gas release is what's needed
