what next !!!!, got my van MOT'd, just finshed off some bodywork and all ready to go, or so I thought !.

When the engine ticks over there is a steady drip drip from the bottom of the water pump, when i rev the engine is piddles out like no tomorrow.

Does this sound like a simple gasket prob ( fix with instant gasket ?), or something more sinister ?

as said replace it, and soon! That dripping is from the tell tail hole basically the seals have gone internally!

cool, some people seem to be selling a complete pump or what looks like just the cover and drive bit. Not sure what to get but guessing the whole unit is the way to go.Is it a straight forward enough job for the novice mechanic >?

I'm a complete novice and managed to replace my water pump successfully. The only hard parts were getting off ancient rusted fasteners - I ended taking my thermo housing (impossible to replace early design) to a local mechanic to dig out the sheared bolts. It also wound up quite expensive, as I took the opportunity to replace all the associated nuts, bolts, seals, gaskets, rings, clamps, hoses and the thermostat while I was there.

Read the advice on wiki, haynes etc. Get your head round it before you start and don't cut any corners.
