Vents

This is a query about the vents behind my fridge. When I bought my camper there were two vents, one in the side panel below the window and one in the sill. The lower one in the sill was removed when I had the sill relaced, a new opening was not made for the vent. Are both vents needed?

A fridge needs a vent for the flue from the gas burner, and vents at the top and bottom to allow air to circulate. Only the flue really needs to be vented to outside the van though. Can you raise the fridge up so that air can get in under it from inside the van?

The flue does have a vent on the outside. I think that perhaps the air can get to the fridge from inside the van, this is something I will have a look at. Thanks.

just make it easier for the air to circulate .. no need to cut any holes

It needs to get in at the bottom and out at the top. The more air flow, the better the fridge will work.

It aint hot enough in this country to worry about the bottom vent, just one at the top to allow some heat out and the external vent. When I got a new fridge I spoke to Knaus (or summit like that motor home manufacturer) and there main bloke said no need at all for bottom un's !

Yep, my leisuredrive only has the upper air vent with a gap under the fridge on the inside and a vent in the side of the kitchen units behind the drivers seat

Mine just has the flue outside, no other vents and it works fine.
In fact I have to set it to minimum or it will freeze the milk etc !!

Thanks everybody. I won't replace the bottom one, didn't want to cut into the new sill so what a relief it will be ok.
