Gas Cupboard vent?

Hi,
My parents have just bought a newly converted mazda bongo and brought it up to show us. The hose from the stove feeds to a cupboard under the r n r bed and there is a bracket there to hold a gas bottle. However there is no vent in the floor of this cupboard. There is a vent in the cupboard under the stove but this cupbord is only about 3 inches deep so there would be no space there for a bottle (the van is TINY!).
This worries me as I thought the gas locker had to be vented to the outside of the van. My question is, is this vent a legal requirement? Cos if it is they can ring up the gu and he'll have tosort it.
Thanks a lot for reading,
Alice.
