Hi all,
Im at a stage now to fit the 2 way fridge in my panel van. It seems a shame to put holes in the side and floor of a perfect panels so my idea is to use one of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/240V-12V-TRANSFOR ... 27ade0b747" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; to run the fridge. It says 6A so should be sufficent, i know i will only be able to run the fridge on 240v hookup but i dont mind. This way i dont have to use gas and mainly no holes. Just want to see if its a sensible idea or if anyone else has any ideas?

From the manual:
To prevent undue voltage drop, which would impair the performance of the cooling unit, the wiring for the 12V refrigerator supply should be connected directly to the terminals of the battery in the towing vehicle and not through any of the existing wiring (which may not be capable of carrying the 7 amp load satisfactorily), and not to an auxiliary battery in the car or caravan. The wire used for connecting must be at least 2 mm2 in crosssectional area (e.g. 28/0.30mm or 35/0.30mm), and should be kept as short as possible. The wire may be
'twin' sheathed, or two singles taped together at intervals; the chassis or body of the car and caravan should not be used as a substitute for one of the wires. Polarity is not important with regard to the refrigerator, but a fuse, such as Lucas part no. 188220, 7/15 amp, must be incorporated in the supply (to the side of the battery not connected to the chassis) as near to the battery as possible. A good quality fuse holder should be used, with adequate size contacts to carry the 7 amp load without undue resistance.

You need 7A supply minimum.

I think you will be disapointed with it's performance personally.
12v chest coolers are more efficient, as the cold air is kept in when you open it. (like in the multivan?)

for the sake of a one inch hole in the swage line you could have a gas fridge that will take the air inside down to 30 deg below ambient.

I see what your saying just seems a shame to put a hole in it. Will it work just receiving 6amps of power and just not perform quite as well?

No, likelihood of overheating/fire in your converter. You need a supply of SEVEN or more Amps.

You need 7A supply minimum.
