Hello all, the old girl is nearly ready for our first camping trip and now she has developed a problem. She starts fine but now ticks over lumpy however when the throttle is used it all evens out and when revving at a constant high we get a slight misfire. This morning it coughed and sputtered until it stalled and took five minutes to get going again and when it did it appeared to ease when she finally warmed up. I have changed the rotor arm and cap and am unable to find any splits in the vac pipes. I have sucked the tubes on the vac unit and they seem to be air tight, is this correct or do i buy a new one from just kampers along with new vac pipes. i am stumped she is a 1.9 DF WBX with 100,000 on the clock A REG.

All changed and brand new, the problem is i cant keep renewing every item i think could be faulty its costing a fortune. I had the van fully serviced just three months ago and with the welding i have spent over £1000 so far and i am getting to the point of zero funds left.

Fuel starvation of some kind, dirty tank, low fuel level recently, filter as Simon says, air leak a round carb/manifold joints etc etc
One way a lot of people overlook, when wanting to eliminate the whoele ignition system, from battery to plugs, is to get a good garage to stick it on their engine tuner (what was always called a
Krypton tune

)
Today, once connected up, it really shouldn't take long to determine if a good consistent stream of sparks is happening at about the right time... compared to a guessing game, unless you know exatcly what is beyond suspicion, or almost certian what the problem is (even a set of new leads can be faulty) then that is often the best thing to do when stumped, before moving on.
