Hi guys wonder if you can help me. My van has developed a leak coming from where the rubber pipe fits on to the long metal pipe under the van from the engine end. A mate has told me that the end of the metal pipe is rusted and that i should take the rubber pipe off and cut the metal pipe down to nice clean metal then fit a longer piece of hose. I have managed to get some hose and it is a marine exhaust hose 32mm. My van is an 84 diesel which was a petrol, not sure if the pipes were changed as i am understanding they are different. Can anyone please advise as im off to cornwall next week. Steve

Yes sounds like you have the metal front to back cooling pipes which should be 32mm outside diameter. If you cut the end off you will lose the swage bit so put 2 jubilee clips on that should hold ok!
Now if you have the plastic cooling pipes thats a different story !

Yeah it is the metal ones. Been reading up on the plastic ones. Should i glue the rubber pipe on aswell with some strong adhesive then put a few clips on. Its only really a botch up job until i get the jk kit when i get back from surfing in cornwall. Just hope it will last the drive.

I'd use silicone sealant and 2 clips on a thoroughly dried pipe ... only as a temporary fix till you can get the real deal though  .
