Buzzer of Doom.....

Comes on when engine is warmed up. Used to go off when I got it over 2.5/3k revs, now on most of time.
No thinning or loss of oil.
Had oil pressure check done - On start up 2 bar, when warm 1 bar on tick over Zero.

Elite say they will take a look but not for a couple of weeks cos they are busy (engine is still under warranty)

Thing is - do I replace the oil pump first (cos they have messed me round a bit) to see if that fixes it.
I put good quality pressure switch in a few months ago so know thats OK

Your thoughts would be helpful - cos it's coming up to Bashtie time again

If it's under warranty Tigs DO NOT TOUCH IT ! Swapping an oil pump's not too bad a job * but imho it'll invalidate the warranty.

* Silencer off, rear tinware off, engine mounting bar off, cover off, pump out, new pump and cover in and refit the rest .... it may not cure it though, then you have a duff engine and perhaps no warranty either.

Ian.

what oil you using tigs.. 15w 40?
try 20w 50 as a temporary measure.

sounds like the pump is calling time though

Ask Elite if, if you have the pump professionally fitted at your expense, they'll honour the warranty.

I know what Kev's saying, however the thicker oil only masks the real issue and if the engine goes pop while you're driving it knowing it has low oil pressure ..........

Sorry Tigs, I know it's not what you want to hear :(

Ian.

Tigs... you dont want to be driving it anywhere... unless Elite tell you to do so... as they will be the ones picking up the pieces........ LITERALLY..... It WILL throw a rod out of the case and break the camshaft..

The only other component that I know that can give similar symptoms is the oil pressure relief valve sticking, not seating properly or debris on the seat. I Don't know if this has ever caused a problem with VW's like it does with other older engines but you could change the oil pump and still have exactly the same problem. I would be inclined to wait and get it sorted by Elite under warranty.
