Another leisure battery query!

Hi all,
Looks like my leisure battery is not holding charge, It has been in the van since I got it 2 years ago. Are the physical dimensions of all leisure batteries the same? What size should I get? Usually only run leisure battery while driving to keep the fridge going (should be charging anyway at this point) & on day trips when parked. Use gas @ shows & hook-up on campsites.
Thanks for lookin, in
Rob

Thanks for the reply.
Not measured the dimensions of mine yet, but does this fit below the Drivers seat comfortably or could I get a larger battery with a greater ah?

this one fit just right for me. i would measure and then search for the biggest you can fit. Every battery on this site has the dimensions listed.

Obviously depends on what the leisure battery is powering....typically it's just the camping lights and radio, the fridge is a big NO NO when parked up as it draws around 8amps so will flatten the leisure in just a few hours.
The answer is...as big as will fit and that is usually around 80amp/hour but I have seen a 110 under there but it's a very tight squeeze.
The usually issue is the battery is too tall.

Cheers guys,
I think its time to get the tape measure out! Looks like I should be switching to gas when I'm out & about then!

When you are driving along it should be the alternator that powers the fridge, not the leisure battery. As soon as you turn off the engine the fridge should be off until you connect it to a 230v hook up or run it on gas. Unless of course you have rewired the 12 volt supply to the fridge.

There's some leisure battery info – sizes etc in the Wiki
https://club8090.co.uk/wiki/Ca ... s_that_fit
This would be a good option, it's just fit I think
http://www.tayna.co.uk/ELECSOL-100-Carb ... P5579.html I have a larger leisure battery not in the space behind the seat but I'm going to get one of these as well to go in that space I rec.

So the 'battery' button is only for when we are driving?
Does anyone know the location of the split charge relay in a Westy California?
'Static' shock from metalwork when mains connected, could this be why my leisure battery isn't charging?

If it's on battery, it does nothing unless the engine is running, yes.
