If the system is in tip top condition with no leaks you get loadsa heat up front. Most likely leaking places are the control pods and the elbows that they sit on. Air here is verry hot, but fibreglass filler can cope. ( Elbows are blinking expensive for what they are - filler is cheap).
Don't run my bus in winter now but when I did I rarely had to switch on the propex whilst driving. Dear to buy but superbly reliable and great tech. support.
Don't be tempted to add a fan, makes minimal difference on idle and none at any speed at all. (I know from experience)
hope some of this helps

Ray - if it's all working properly the standard system provides good heat in my experience - I've added a fan and it does help - especially at idle (different from BRB!)
Another thing I've considered making for the winter months is a curtain/blind/partition for just behind the cab seats to reduce the volume of air that has to be warmed (I don't do passengers much!) - I've heard that this works well. My plan is to make a rollup thing with a clear window in it to retain visibility and to use poppers to attach it - easily detachable when you don't need it.
