power steering removal

I have recently finished a subaru ej22 conversion into my syncro and after hooking up the power steering using an aftermarket hose I have the most annoying sounds coming from my power steering. Driving in a straight line is not as noisey but as soon as I steer it screeches like crunching gears. I don't care for power steering enough to try have a different hose made up so want to remove it altogether. What I don't know about is if the steering gear is the same for syncros with or without power steering. Does anyone know if there is a difference? thanks, erik

to remove the power steering you will have to change the rack for the manual one, the syncro rack is a different part number to the 2wd, suffix B for syncro, no suffix for 2wd, and you will also need the manual connection shaft from the steering relay to the rack;
you can sell the power steering parts to fund the swap as they are well sought after the syncro specific connection shaft in particular, I'm after one :ok
