Hi all

I am making a start trying to fix the damage to the rear of my camper that has been bodged.

I bought it knowing it would need this done, but I would appreciate your advice on the best way to go about sourcing the parts. I need the below parts marked with red arrows. Although visible on the JK diagram, the parts do not appear to be listed for sale? Any idea why?



Also, where the van has been driven into, the very back flat panel that meets the tailgate and will have the tailgate seal attached is completely mangled. This has been hammered almost flat where the lip should be! Will the above panel (long horizontal panel above) include the lip that houses the tailgate seal and lock? I can see on the back of my van where this panel has been joined (middle of engine opening), but can't tell whether this is one piece all the way to where the tailgates closes against it. Again, any ideas why this is not listed as available?

Would I need to find a van to cut these parts out of (with the owner's permission of course )?

Hopefully the above makes sense!!

You help would be much appreciated.

all those panels are obsolete from VW, and there are no patterns either.

your best bet is a cut section

I must admit I was hoping for an off the shelf solution, but at least I now know what direction to focus my efforts (or grinder in this case ).

I will give Volksheaven a call in the morning, but if anyone knows of any other breakers etc, then please let me know.

Full rear corner was in ahschofield catalogue last time I looked maybe give them a bell?

They had um on display at Dubfreeze and Stanford hall so they defo do um, tho the side panel with vent is about £250 iirc

Thanks James - I knew this bus would cost a few quid to sort out....

Hopefully buying new will mean just drilling out the spot welds of the old panel and replacing with the new panel - but things are never that straight forward I am sure..... especially as I can't Weld!!

Any ideas if they do the rear flat panel as posted above - or is this definitely a cut out job as Kev said earlier?

I'm sure the rear panel was still available not to long ago if you mean the one below , not sure of supplier

The way those panels are attached, and the fact you said you cant weld , your gonna struggle! But good luck with it

Thanks Phil - Yes, I will need one of these (rear valence I think). Just trying to sort the other panels first!!

Managed to pick up a pretty decent (no rust) tailgate for £25 - thought that was a bargain (including window).

Have asked the guys at Volksheaven to try and find me the below.... I warn you it is not a pretty site!!

I tried to get that rear corner two weeks ago and there is nothing doing.

I called Billy 739 and he cut me a section.
I have the off side it cost E250. and is available

the only other option is to have an Aircooled corner and mod it.

I can do you the bit that goes across the back, I bought a rear end for the rear valance and removed the rear and have a good top with intact seal channel and lock mounting and part of the engine seal. so no probs there,

Thanks Kev - I am sure it will be difficult to source new, so as you say, either a cut out or mod on the Aircooled panel.

It is appreciated all the advice offered as it helps us newbies a great deal, especially knowing where and what to look for online as this can be hours of searching.

The offside is about the only panel that looks ok!! But thanks for letting me know - I am sure when I start taking bits off I will need more panels than I thought
