Is this tricky?
Does the exhaust need to be removed?

I had mine done by a professional. They took 2 hours or so. The exhaust wasnt touched at all.
IIRC, they charged about £80 to fit it (I would prefer to trust someone else with a job like that)

Was it the westfalia swan neck type without the removable ball?

Its an easy job for an amateur. First remove the bumper end caps, then the bumpers, its the 2 bolts behind the plastic caps on the bumper. Under van locate bolts holding on the bumper hangers, undo and slide out the bumper hangers from the chassis ends. Slide in your westy tow-bar, locate bolt holes, one is further back. Put in bolts a couple of turns until you have engaged all the bolts then screw them up. Refit bumper - job done. I got a mate to do the electrics but it is all accessible in the engine bay.

Great, I'm going to have a pop!
Does anyone have any indication of how to wire up the electrics?

Just got hold of a westy swan neck towbar as well as upgrading to deep bumpers at the same time. I have cut the bumper to accept the swan neck but from what I can see it only utilizes two of the four fixing holes (the bottom holes) the there seems to be no bracket to attach it to the top holes on the inside of the bumper. Is there something I am missing from this set?
I'll take a photo at the weekend.
Thanks

Turns out that there was nothing missing. the westfalia bumper i had was for the standard bumpers so i welded on brackets at the top to account for the second set of bolts.
