Just having a coffee break ... (Saab Seats)

Just grabbing a coffee after removing my old seats and fitting some lovely saab 93 fabric seats (didn't want leather). I picked up the seats (including the rest of the Saab interior) for £30 on flea bay and what a bargain as they are only six years old.

I would encourage anyone considering upgrading to go for these seats as they go in with minimal adapting.
I will post some photos when complete but they look goooood !! :D

Right ... coffee break over it's back to work me laddo 8)

I've been considering doing this.

How much modding is required, like any hole drilling or welding ?

Ghost ... very little modding required main part of the job was grinding off a few brackets so the rails sit flat. There are a couple of locating lugs which I left on to aid alignment and strength ... just need to carefully grind round the bracket that surrounds them ... a few strips of re-enforcing plate and jobs a good un. If you get the right seats it will be obvious what needs to be done to make them fit. Oh .... and I removed the Saab seat belt sockets as I figure that there would be less load on the seat mounts by using the existing VW sockets. Biggest problem is finding some seats locally as very few people will courier them due to size/weight etc. Incidentally the first set of seats I bought came off a Saab 95 ... they were immaculate but didn't fit as too narrow. (I was lucky enough to find another set locally). The Saab 93 are about a quarter of an inch too wide to be an exact fit, but with a bit of fiddling they will go in.

Oh ... no welding but need a hand grinder and some drilling for seat rails and re-enforcing plates

T4? Did it bolt straight on? Any problems or all good? I've got a thread out to collect steering wheel info for the wiki, so please post/add to it if you can with a photo if you could
