Rather new to this kind of thing!! the fridge (Electrolux) does not work on 240v (Been told by the previous owner that he had never had a problem with it). Have got power to the 240v socket. How does the fridge come out?? And is there a common fault that I should look for??

silly question but does it have a switch on the front to turn it to 240.
is there power to the 240 socket, is it plugged in, is the fuse ok
ours takes a while to get cold

remember it's silent too
an hour should see frost on the exchanger in the ice box

Electrolux rm212f 12volt 240 volt and gas.. The thermostat only works on 240volt and the fridge just has two small heater elements (at the back and under the insulation so if it is working on 12volt and gas its probably either the thermostat or the heater which on 240 volt is 100 watts. This is if you have checked the 240volt to the control switch. You can still buy spares for the fridges i think there are details on wiki

The pipe work at the back of the fridge gets nice and warm but the inside does not go cold

Take it out and turn it upside-down for a while. If that doesn't work, you probably need a new element. Its easy to replace.

make sure it's reasonably level too.

you may be mixing two things here, if the pipework at the rear gets bhot then which ever element its running on is working, if then aftyer an hour or so there is no chilling in the icebox area than yep switch of and invert for the night and then give it 12 hours the right way up and then run it.
you dont say what you are using when it getsd hot , gas? 240v, (12 only works with engine running,

As stated, it does need to be flat, we have to take ours off the drive, which is on a slope, or it won't work.

Sorry to drag this old one up again.
But I have the 212F in my newly acquired T25. I started it on 240 volts for the first time and frost just started to form then after that nothing. Tried Gas and it lights ok and tried 12v and it draws current.

Question. Just how flat must the fridge be if only running on 240 V. I believe they are temperamental to tilt on Gas but are they also temperamental on 240V

angle is not an issue with mains as it's a heating element, like 12 volt
try the upside down method,

if you have an autosleeper removal is quite easy take the grill off the outside first.
two screws hold it in the unit

I have taken it out today. Checked all the wiring etc etc and couldn't find a problem. So whilst I was electrical testing the switches I noticed the back pipes getting hot at certain times . Note: the van is on our courtyard area which has probably a 5 or even 6 deg slope to the left.
This got me wondering about the level issues with these fridges so I packed the fridge so it was level whilst sitting in the middle of the van and sure enough it kept working. Put it back in its rightful place and it wouldn't work. So I level up the van with drive on chocks and I'm still running it now to see if it will stay working over night. on 240v no8 setting the inside was( minus) -5.5 deg after 5 hours so turned it down to 2 and its now arround 3 deg . Will see what its like tomorrow.

Question......are these RM212f fridges sensitive to tilt even on 240v. I know some have said not but.... do I still have a problem then. ( low coolant-gas etc)
