Diesel Engine

Hi,

I need a little advice with regards to which engine / parts I need to install a Diesel engine in to my Camper.
Im no novice when it comes to mechanics but need a little advice/Reference on what parts you need to install...say a Tdi in to a T25.
My camper is an Aircooled T25 2.0CU Engine.
Theirs nothing wrong with my engine ive just need to have the economy as Im using it more and more now and its becoming a little juicy. Its averaging 17-18mpg which is about normal and it has been returning 20-22 whislt on a run to and from the Isle of wight. It pulls like (Pushes  ) like a train and starts on the button Rain,Snow,Wind.

My idea is to convert it over and then put the CU lump on Fleabay hopefully recovering some of the cost.

I would imagine I will need :

Water Pipes (Plastic front to back)
Radiator
Grill (South African Version Looks Best)
Sump (TD Version)
Cross Member (What Mounts ?)
Gear Box ??
Loom
Somewhere to locate Intercooler
Driveshafts
Bell Housing

Which is the better TDI lump to install ?

Can any body advise on Part Numbers etc as I would imagine all is available.
Possibly looking at doing in the later part of the year early next. I have no plans to sell my camper so will be a long term investment. I had the bus for 4 years now and it has been great.

Thanks

Glenn.

This is a "alternative engine forum" question and your questions will be answered in there already..

BUT dont underestimate the amount of work going fro air cooled to water cooled.. and using a TDi isnt cheap and without its problems too..
Realisticaly how many miles do you do in it a year??

Anything between 2 - 4 thousand and increasing. I would use it more if it was more economical. Whats the MPG on a TDI then in of these ?

Glenn :ok

If you converted to LPG you'd have half price fuel, and none of the problems accosiated with going from petrol to deisel, let alone Aircooled to watercooled

MMmmm

Could be the Gasure Route then..

Any pitfalls with LPG on these engines ? Gas tank could go where the spare wheel is I suppose and the spare mounted on the front like a Bay....

Got me thinking now... :P
