Hi,

Somebody told me that the best replacement front seats come from a saab 9000? Does anyone have any experience of this? Is it difficult to wire in the electrics?


Also, is there anything you can do with the rear seats?

shoud also have asked, do they fit straight in? And if i'm removing them from the saab what in the way of electrics should I be trying to take?

I'm pretty sure the same seats come in later (91-93 or so) 'classic' 900s, too - they certainly look the same as the ones in mine. Comfy as an old pair of trainers...

No, later 900s have the same seats as 9000s...

ha was just wishful thinking. Has anyone done it? Is it difficult for someone with relatively no skills?

If you have no skills then it would be an hard job due to lack of skills

I do aircraft assembly fitting for a living so I have skills and the opportunity to find bolts/washers/nuts/steel tube bushes etc for the job

If I recall you will need access to a drill, an 8mm drill bit, a screwdriver, a pair of pliers, a socket set, a 13mm spanner, an angle grinder to remove the drivers seat raising mechanism, a bench vice to re-bend the seat forward and backwards lever, 8mm bolts, washers and nuts, some decent steel tubing preferably with an 8mm internal bore, and a hacksaw and file for cutting the bolts and tubing to length.

I fitted SAAB 9000 seats, well only done the drivers seat so far, but followed the WIKI except I didn't use the additional bracket on the runner, as I felt it was secure enough by just sliding the nuts into the channel. Took me about 2 hours to fit, but haven't bothered with the electrics. In fact I cut all the wiring etc off the seat.

Very very comfy and worth doing IMO
