Help!!!
While sorting the front brakes on my old girl the speedo hub cover came off along with the cable, although I put it back in the speedo now not working.so I'm thinking do I get a new cable and do I just slot it in and it will work?
Any advice ?

Well, the cable is retained with an 8mm E clip. Without the clip it can easily become disconnected. If the square hole in the cap has rounded, you can either tack-weld to rebuild it, or hammer from inside the cap with the wrong end of a cold chisel to close the hole a little
