Hi all
Tried to get my van tracked last week on a flash laser tracking system (laserline I think it was called). The software had six different settings listed (all for 14" syncros) depending on ride height, and differ from each other significantly. The 'ride height' settings are as follows (H= ---mm)
483, 493, 498, 503, 508, 513

I've just upgraded to 15" 6J Merc steels with 225/75 Colways ATs.

Any ideas? Or failing that does anyone have the actual settings so I can give them to the garage. I've heard that the settings in the various manuals may not actually be correct...

I believe the procedure is to measure the vehicles actual ride height as determined by the measurement from the wheel arch to the hub centre. The measurement can then be read off against the chart in the manual - or use the appropriate setting on the machine and the camber set accordingly.

I'm sure we can simplify that a bit in times to come, but the specs themselves are down towards the bottom of page...

I should have said...

Try to get all the current measurements before they go resetting anything, for your records...as you have probably noted already, there is a fair bit of uncertainty about some of these settings, particularly for different load settings and suspension heights. And setting calibration and methods vary, of course.

Additionally, you might spot the effects of mild or significant damage, so although the fitters are sometimes not too keen to note them down, in my opinion it's often worth a bit of hassle

thanks guys - haven't got any further with this as yet (although VC and 4WD have been instated in the meantime ) so need to sort it ASAP.

I've got loads of info (thanks Jake) now, so will compare the outcomes of this to those listed in syncro.org, brickyard tables and those at Protyre when I've worked it.

After an 11pm intro to greenlaning including river crossings (Ok so it was a stream, but I'm excited) I now understand the syncrogrin concept - cheers Tom! Hope to see some more of you at a syncro event sometime.
