Further to my earlier thread. I am now in Scotland and starting my Highlands trip.
Staying at the Red Squrriel campsite. Lovely setting with mountains around and a river. Off to Fort-William on Fri.

Red Squirrel is excellent - close to the Clachaig pub and also handy for doing the Aonach Eagach if you have a head for heights.
I'd also recommend Caolsnackan campsite, not far from there - head up to Glencoe village and take the turning for Kinlochleven. Follow this road for a while and the campsite is on the left. Superb lochside site with relaxed atmosphere and great views.

I'm staying in Linne Lochside campsite tonight. Though ok pitch got pick up £14.50 for the pitch. I thought a bit expensive. Though the Facilties are top notch. I enjoyed my stay at Red Squirell though.
Anyone got any more recomendations for campsites up the west coast? Heading up towards Mallaig from Sunday!

Other great sites up the west coast:
Sands Campsite at Gairloch

The campsite at Shieldaig:

We spent last Easter staying in the village, there are some excellent walks around the headland, fantastic views and amazing sunsets and a good pub in the village
Applecross

Half the fun of getting to Applecross is the Bealach Na Ba - a high pass that separates the men from the boys and weeds out the old bangers.

I am at garage in Aultbea awaiting my new tyres to arrive. If I can get to Ulllapool tonight then I am back on track again despite the setback!
I hated that road to Applecross. Had to have full attention on that!

There is a safer road to Applecross but that's just for pussies! North of Ullapool the scenery gets seriously good. More insane single track driving if you then take the bottom road up to Lochinver and round to Drumbeg. Theres a decent campsite at Scourie, Good meals at the pub there. From there its a short drive up to Durness (sango sands campsite). Its worth doing the boat/bus trip to Cape Wrath. BTW the big mountain you will see on your right as you go up is Foinaven. Its a cracker.
Keep us posted!

Hi I kinda done most of what you said!
Did the single track road up from Lochinver, some great views. Though had to be on the ball driving wise!
I stayed at Sango sands in Durness & took a boat ride out to Cape Wrath. I enjoyed that, though very windy!
Went across to John 'o Groats. I got my T25 under the sign with me and had my photo taken! Went to Mey castle, that was interesting. I'm now in West Calder. Gonna see the Falkirk wheel then it's the drive back down south on Wednesday. Been a good tour.
