yes it is i was well annoyed when the engine stud snapped, luckily i had only booked the ferry and not bought the show tickets in advance

Just sat aboard the pride of hull with a becks in hand making the most of a UK mobile connection before I loose it! No face book. No emails. No internet. It will feel like ive has a limb removed!

Mind you I will probably have a limb removed by the morning,t snoring is legendary, apparently! I never hear it!

Now then.Let's not get too down about not going.At least we've got all these beautiful hills to ourselves now they are out of the way. And I really didn't fancy being so close to one of the finest breweries(Einbeck) in Germany anyway.And it's probably raining (with any luck! ). Schadenfreude is a wonderful feeling.

PMSL Im supprised anyone with a syncro can afford to go to germany, I just got mine back after having the gearbox refitted, so now I have a working van and not enough money to insure and tax it
I will start saving for the 30th now I should have enough money by then , as long as I dont use the van

My syncro was only recently bought and "a little distressed" at that. Currently immobilized by virtue of having lent the carb out to keep one of our happy number on the road

I didn't go either. It was a case of a hasty (probably half assed) service and thrown in interior with too many worries to be worth it.

This van is new to me and until it's been sorted properly the idea of travelling that far left me a bit cold. I couldn't manage the hassle of getting it home if anything went wrong due to huge commitments on a personal level.

Never mind. I decided on a colour and went to Stanford Hall and sourced my interior trim this weekend. Also managed to sort the minor internal seam rot (bare metal, Vactan in buckets and a sealing coat), sound deadening (flashbanding) and insulation (that shiny bubblewrap stuff) yesterday.

Also sent the Westfalia roof off to be professionally cleaned and resurfaced in a smooth finish (VW Elevation).

Not a wasted weekend at all. The van has moved on, the jobs list has decreased and I have a sense of direction again. I'll order the Rustoleum paint today and buy the rollers/thinners etc too.#

Syncro 30th - for sure but one weekend of focus has me getting the van ready for the next 5 years and a holiday in Devon this August. Sometimes it's worth the compromise

Dont roller it, spraying that stuff is better and you get a deeper reflection.
Less time sanding down, as your not trying to get all the peel out of it.

All I found was more horrors about the syncro and that the 2.6 has quite a thirst for oil when doing motorway runs
Got some concrete laid before the rain came in on Saturday (1 ton of dry ballast, 3.8 sq metres) which has widened the driveway a useful metre. Only just got away with it, levelling off and had to cover with timbers and a tarp...
Turned out ok.

Might be an idea. Not so crticial if I am atking all the bits out anyway is it and I can get round the interior better too.
