Can anyone recommend someone who could fix a faulty carburettor - Part Number 02512915.

where are you located Elly maybe some one can have a look for you as they need to be really bad before all is lost

I presume you have eliminated all the other reasons why it doesn't accelerate?
Timing.
Air leaks.
petrol filter.
Petrol Pump.
cleaned the carb, including the little filter

brakes binding.

As suggested.. let us know where you are as there can be many reasons why it wont accelerate.. a carb rebiuld is less likely.. blocked jets is very likely...

Part number needs a letter after it to determine which version it is.. but its most likely a 2e3 from a 1.9 DG engine code..

I am based in Bristol - any idea of someone localish who could look at the carb?

The carb has been cleaned, according to the guy who cleaned it the bit doesn't open where the extra fuel goes in when you accelerate.

That's operated by the pull down unit , it is a vacuum operated device which opens the choke somewhat at full throttle, It would not stop the choke working properly, the opposite in fact. With the engine cold, and off, press the accelerator to engage the choke,then remove the airfilter so that you can look into the carb to see that the choke has operated correctly. This is the plate at the top of the square venturi and it should be closing it ,i.e. almost horizontal. A more likely problem would be air getting in through a split in a vacuum hose, servo hose and weakening the mixture, so check these. Another possibility is the inlet manifold pre heater, this is electrically operated via a thermoswitch, could just be it's not warming the mixture for those first few seconds.

to check this device is working, remove the pipe attached to it and try and suck air through it..if you can, it's shagged.
