Engine Stuttering.

Dear all,

i have had a slight problem with the engine stuttering, its not a missfire its almost as the fuel is cut for a second and then normal service resumes.

The van starts perfectly every time and generlaly runs very smothly.

The engnine is a 1.9 petrol and the fault is very intermittant and may be me but seems to happen more often when going up hill, the problem doesnt seem to be as bad when I put higher octaine petrol in, I know this is probably just me as I know it wont make a darn bit of difference to performace etc, just wondered if perhaps it has more aditives that make it run better or perhaps its a blockage in the fuel pump or filter or a carb problem??

Any ideas?

you could tell us if you have serviced it
ie:-
cap
rotor arm
plugs
leads

try the transfer jet, make sure it squirts some fuel in the venturi when you press the accelerator

Hi Nick, I'm having the same problem with engine stutter on my T25 1.9 .Have changed all the usual suspects, plugs,leads,dis/cap,rotor arm. Spoke to local garage he says Pierburg carbs are prone to blockages so that's the next to be checked.

I posted the exact same thing last night, mine is a 1983 1.9 WBX as well and the problem is just a hiccup for a micro second. The van runs fine 99.9% of he time and i have just had a full service but the fault remains. The advice was posible water in the tank or dirty fuel filter.
