cheers tools but pic doesn't help. I've got a 19 d passat I think, 1998. It's fitted on an angle and I can't get the same image you offer. Any other assistance would be great.

You will find Engine code number below cyl No 3, flat embossed plate, you will find that the diesel fuel pump is hiding it (to the rear end of the pump). You will have to give it a good rubbing with a fine piece of sanding paper, the face will be clean then and the sh2te will be in the numbers, If its a non Turbo first prefix will be 1Y followed by numbers. Look closely under No 3 injector, you may have to remove the injector pipes to access.------------- :ok

Also for FUTURE Ref, PLEASE Always state what engine you have in your T25. ie Diesel or Petrol. when asking on the forum for technical help or general enquiries, ------------ :idea

Thank you, got it... having spent 31/2 hrs searching for the code, I found it....written in yellow scrapyard paint, on the rocker box cover, in a 21/2 inch font.... 1Y passat 98k. Talk about wood and trees.
Any help with regards to finding and fitting a replacement diesel 1.9, greatly appreciated, Docklad
