fixing filler neck leak

I just realised that the filler neck is leaking on my new t25 when the tank is full. I have ordered some 'petropatch' to try and fix it. While waiting for this to be delivered I wondered if anyone had any experience doing this and had anything to share? Have dripping from pipe wall when full (i.e. when petrol is actually in the pipe) and petrol fumes other times. MPG has been pretty poor (29 on motorway <20 around town) so hoping that this will go up. Have heard horror stories of cost of repair, so hoping to patch it up :-0

age of the van?

early vans had metal filler pipes , they can rust through , newer vans have plastic filler that never wears!

if you have the later plastic type then it will be the upper rubber thats split , very common.
again brickwerks is the place for replacement. a new stainless retaining ring will almost certainly be required as well.
