What is this key hole for?

Had to pay for a site a couple of weeks ago so thought id use my leccy, never done it before. Anyway couldnt find it? There is a hole on the side which i always thought was for my water tank, could this be it? If that is for my leccy where is the hole for the water?

My next question is, if i dont have a key for said key hole how do i open it anyway?

Mines a 1983 T25 air cooled 1.9ltr.

Bloke in Scarborough, cant remember his name has got identical, he would know. Would his key fit mine?

What does the 'hole' look like? like a petrol cap? thats most likely water, or is it like a lat pice of white plastic? Where is it?

If you've got a pic, email it to me and i'll put it up for you.

Its white, square about 6 by 4 and is above rear wheel arch. on driver side. Pics are a bit too exciting for me. Tried the other day and nothing happened.

Sounds like a typical leccy point, and it has a key? or rather a hole?

If you follow the pipe inside the van from the tap, chances are, you may well discover the location of your water tank.....this'll give you a clue as to whether the opening on the side is water or electric - you can also chase the electric wiring to see where that leads to - vans with hook up often have a socket on the rear wardrobe, and the cabling might finish in there somewhere.

To open it when the key is lost, and you can find no key to fit, you'll need a large flat blade screwdriver - hinge may well be the weakest point - esp if it's all plastic.......

If its the leccy point, be ready with the duck tape to seal it up again.

I know letting the side down, just didnt use to take any notice of what ex did, just put kettle on. We could delete this before any male gets a whiff of my ignorance.

So i know where my water tank is, under seat at back. I also have a fancy foreign wiring unit infront of wardrobe. So it looks like i will have to get off virtual backside and do some actual cupboard emptying. There is one hell of a lot of crap to move.
