I need some advice on 240V pick up. Going away on Monday and I can’t get any current from my 240V pick up. I’ve never used it or tested it since I had the van!

I’ve put the hook up lead from my house to the van and the RCD box has no red light (power). I’ve also tested it using a normal extension lead via an adaptor and still no power, so can’t be the hook up lead

Any ideas what it could be? I don’t know a lot about 240V pick up.

I have the standard set-up with plug on the side of the vehicle and RCD box in wardrobe.

I have hook up 10m lead and male & female adaptor + plug in RCD, so could bring it via the window at a campsite, as a consistency if required!

Though I would naturally prefer the usual set up to be working.

Any advice appreciated

is everything switched on? all the rcd switches set in the correct position and the mcb also? i'm assuming by pick up you mean hook up?

Hi I've amended the title to read right. Yes mean 240V hook up.

I've tried with all the switch up and down. Just getting no power. I didn't think there was much to go wrong on 240V hook up. I suppose it has to be the RCD box at fault?

Check the hook up lead connections, use a multimeter and check continuity of contacts male to female, or dismantle and visually check each end. Replace or repair if faulty. If OK it may be a bad connection at the hook up socket which can be visually inspected by removing it from the housing and carefully drawing it out as there is often slack in the cable. If all appears ok then you need to get someone to check the RCD. I doubt the RCD is faulty but you never know. Should have a test to function that trips it out, if it trips out when the button is pressed then the fault is more than likely after the RCD unit or connections.
