For those who live in the North West-I've just found a company in Standish which overhauls starters and Alternators.
I have no affilliation with the company but through a work colleague was told about this guy who has set up his own business called Standish Alternators
I gave him my alternator at 6pm and collected it a 9pm same day. Full monty overhaul, bearings etc
For £40. Now pumps out 14.5 amps easy and quieter as the bearings were fubard.

Good to know. Had bearings changed locally though and new regulator fitted in Ireland after it went on holiday last year. Alternator doesn't pump out 14.5 though more like 13.8 for me

pumps out 14.5A on tickover. With all lights, stereo, heater blower on 13.5A
