Right the gearbox on my van ('88 Petrol with a manual 4 speed) has seized up and you can't move out of fourth. Now i have done a range of checks and I am certain the gearbox needs replacing, but my question is can I do a straight swap of the existing 4 speed with a 5 speed?

Secondly does anyone know where I can get a replacement box from, be it 4 or 5 speed?

to change to five speed you need the front linkage and the gearstick and assembly and the gearbox mount for the five speed, other than that yes it's straight forward, but unless you know the five speed is great then I wouldn't go there imho, better to get yours fixed, it'll be broken 3rd4th synchrohub
